The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) is a musical about musicals! In this hilarious satire of musical theatre, one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Stephen Sondheim. The basic plot: June is an ingenue who can't pay the rent and is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the handsome leading man come to the rescue? The variations are: a Rodgers & Hammerstein version, set in Kansas in August, complete with a dream ballet; a Sondheim version, featuring the landlord as a tortured artistic genius who slashes the throats of his tenants in revenge for not appreciating his work; a Jerry Herman version, as a splashy star vehicle; an Andrew Lloyd Webber version, a rock musical with themes borrowed from Puccini; and a Kander & Ebb version, set in a speakeasy in Chicago.

Where are you located?

We are located at 5429 W. Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016. We are managing the Attic Theatre & Film Center.

What time should I arrive at the theatre?
Generally speaking, it is best to arrive at the theatre roughly 15-30 minutes before your performance.

Does the theatre have wheelchair access?
Yes.

Can my child/baby attend the theatre?/Is the show appropriate for children?
It is Chromolume Theatre's policy that no babies in arms may be allowed to attend. Further, we do not permit children under the age of four (4) to attend. This is to ensure that all customers enjoy the show. Young children are admitted but are not encouraged to attend unless the parent is confident the child will not distract other members of the audience. Everyone must have a valid ticket and occupy a seat. Accompanying adults will be asked to remove any noisy children. Generally, Chromolume Theatre produced productions are appropriate for school age children, while visiting productions can vary in appropriateness. Regardless, you should probably check with the Box Office when you order your tickets whether the production you are attending is appropriate for your child.

Are your actors professional?
In most cases, yes. Most, if not all, of the actors who perform in our shows are members of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and/or American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Do your musicals have live musicians or taped accompaniment?
All of Chromolume Theatre's produced musicals include a single piano, or a small orchestra, usually five pieces. We do not use taped accompaniment at any of our performances. Any visiting production may use taped accompaniment.

Whom do I contact to usher for one of your performances?
If you wish to usher for one of our performances, contact our House Manager.

How can I purchase tickets for one of your productions?
There are three ways to purchase tickets for Chromolume Theatre produced performances (please note that visiting productions' methods may vary):

  • Purchase them in person at the Box Office
  • Purchase them over the telephone by calling (323) 510-2688 x705


Where do I pick up my tickets?
You can pick them up at the Box Office on the date of your performance.

Where is the Box Office located?
The Box Office is located immediately as you enter the theatre, to your right. The Box Office is open one hour prior to performance.

What type of music does Chromolume Radio play?
As we are a theatre company dedicated to presenting intimate experiences of the American Musical, our music is almost exclusively showtunes. The notable exceptions are music written for movies and/or TV by musical theatre composers.

Who do I contact if I have a question about advertising on your radio station?
You would contact our Advertising department by sending them an email at advertising@chromolumeinc.com with "Radio" in the subject field. For our list of current rates, please check our Advertising Page available on this website.

When are auditions for your performances?
Audition dates and times vary depending on the production. You can browse our Audition Page to check out when an upcoming audition is occurring and what to prepare for said audition.

Do you do only do musicals?
Chromolume Theatre's production productions are not only musicals. Occasionally, we will produce a play or a play with music. Visiting productions can vary anywhere between performance art to fully staged musicals.

Jean Altadel, The Ingenue
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Born and raised in beautiful southern California, Jean Altadel now lives in Hollywood where she is actively pursuing her career on screen and on the stage. After receiving her B.A in Theatre Arts, she received a professional certificate in Musical Theatre from the conservatory at AMDA, Hollywood. Some of her favorite stage roles include, Kira in Xanadu (DOMA Theatre), Nellie in South Pacific (4onBroadway), Laurie in Oklahoma (MTLA), Hero in Much Ado About Nothing (East LA Classic), and a gun-slinging gold miner named Pitch Pine Billy in the Laguna Playhouse touring production of By the Great Horn Spoon. She also recently appeared in Chromolume Theatre's most recent production of Love Songs - A Musical. This past year she starred in the award winning short film Usagi San which is still enjoying a successful run on film festival circuit. She has also just completed two short films, Joe and Dr. Con, with her production company Obviam Ent.


Jason Chacon, The Villain u/s
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Jason Chacon is an actor and comedian who ironically moved away from LA before he became an actor, then shortly thereafter circled back. His favorite roles include Miles Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Corny Collins in Hairspray and Carson Monroe in the original production of Breakthrough: The Musical. Jason holds a BA in Journalism from ASU and sends an enthusiastic shout out to his vocal instructor Heather Dudenbostel, his family of artists at the Acting Center in Hollywood, his actual family for all their support and anybody who enjoys watching him perform, although it clearly means you are a glutton for punishment.

Macleish is absolutely thrilled to get back to his roots of Musical theatre in The Musical of Musicals The Musical with the Chromolume Theatre. Macleish was just recently seen at Sierra Madre Playhouse in Lion in Winter as King Phillip. Theatre credits include: To Kill a Mockingbird and Boeing Boeing (Repertory East Playhouse) Carousel and Mystery of Edwin Drood (Sierra Repertory Theatre), Sound of Music (3-D Theatricals), How To Succeed in Business (Colorado Light Opera), The Musicals The Old and New (Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center), Sweet Charity (ICA award for Best Actor in A Musical), The King and I, Titanic, Last 5 Years, Oklahoma, Anything Goes and The Interlopers. Film/TV: Wasteland, Vegas (CBS), Baggage (GSN) w/ Jerry Springer, Meth Head w/Lukas Haas, The Highwayman w/Martin Kove and PBS's An Airforce Christmas. He Holds a BA in Musical Theatre at University of Northern Colorado and trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Eduardo Enrikez, The Villain

Born In Mexico City, but began his professional career in London after Graduation from The Royal Academy of Music London's West End: Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged); Raoul in Eating Raoul, Little Me, and A Midsummer Nights Dream. European tour: Hair. Edinburgh festival: Dangerous Games. Was Nominated for best lead Actor By Broadway World for his role of Chris in last year's award winning production of Miss Saigon at The Candlelight Pavilion. He Returned this year to the Candlelight's Production of Sweet Charity as Vitorio Vidal, The Italian Film Star. Kimberly Hessler, The Ingenue u/s

Kimberly grew up singing and performing in Northern California. After making the move to LA four years ago, she graduated this past May with a degree in Vocal Performance and Musical Theatre from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. Most recent credit include The Diary (Anne Frank), The Most Happy Fella (Rosabella), and A Little Night Music (Anne Egerman). Kimberly is thrilled to be making her professional LA Theatre debut with this talented cast and crew at Chromolume Theatre!


Jason Peter Kennedy, The Hero
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Jason is over the moon to be performing for the first time with Chromolume Theatre. Hailing from Dallas Texas, Jason got his degree in Acting and Musical Theatre from Abilene Christian University. You may have seen Jason most recently as Professor Bhaer in Sustaining Sound Theatre's production of Little Women, as Paul in Crown City Theatre's production of Company, or as Zangara in Coeurage Theatre Company's production of Assassins. Other favorite roles include Pippin in Pippin, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Cat in the Hat in Seussical, Leo Bloom in Producers, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Don Lockwood in Singing in the Rain, Malcolm in The Full Monty, Chip in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Gangster 1 in The Drowsy Chaperone, Jake in Leading Ladies, and Roat in Wait Until Dare to name a few. Kelly Meyersfield The Matron u/s

Kelly Meyersfield is thrilled to be part of this awesomely hilarious show. A writer as well as a performer, Kelly has written two shows, one entitled Loose, that she produced and starred in at the Lifebook Playhouse in Hollywood, and College The Musical: A Musical About College, a two person show in 6 parts that she performs at colleges across the country with her husband, comedian Evan Wecksell. Kelly has been seen in several musicals around town and some of her favorites include I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Pippin and Schoolhouse Rock Live Too at the Greenway Court Theater in West Hollywood. During the holiday season she can be seen all over LA singing Christmas Carols with the Tinseltones! Kelly's biggest accomplishment to date has been the birthing and rearing of her incredibly funny, handsome, delicious 18 month old baby, Beckett Sage, a budding superstar. Thanks to James, Kristin and Richard for putting her in this fabulous show and love and kisses to husband and wee one.

Richard Berent, Musical Director
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Richard is active in L.A. as musical director, pianist, teacher, and composer. He is on the music faculty at Academny of Music and Dramatic Arts (AMDA). His children's musical Goldilocks is currently running at Theater West. He is musical director for the annual REAF celebrity AIDS benefit in San Francisco. Recent musical director credits include The Secret Garden, Girl Crazy, and Into The Woods. He last worked with Chromolume Theatre several years ago musically directing Merrily We Roll Along.


Samantha Whidby, Choreographer
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Samantha Whidby graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, Dance Major, and Theater Arts Minor. Samantha grew up on the stage and began working in theater at 5 years old and has been a member as SAG since 1997. As a young actor she appeared in national commercials, TV shows, and lent her voice to animation. Her passion for performance grew in the Seattle area where she was on several dance companies including Westlake Performing Group, Cruz Control, and Breed. Her dance training included scholarships from the Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, West Coast Dance Explosion, New York City Dance Alliance, Dance Masters of America, and Hollywood Connection. Samantha has danced in several music videos as well as on stage and screen along with assisting choreographer Christina Woodard at the Edge in Hollywood. As a stage manager, she has worked on The Crucible, The Club, In Love With Night, and is currently the production manager of the dance department at Loyola Marymount University. Samantha is thrilled to be the box office coordinator for Chromolume Theatre as well as the assistant choreographer for the production of The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!


James Esposito, Scenic and Sound design
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

James is currently the V.P. of Operations at Chromolume Theatre. Scenic design credits include all three incarnations of Do Lord Remember Me and Love Songs - A Musical for Chromolume Theatre. Sound design credits include Do Lord Remember Me, Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know, Merrily We Roll Along, Capsized Floatsam, Greek Tragedy and Strip, the latter of which he also directed. On stage, his credits include Company (Bobby), City of Angels (Munoz), Two Gentlemen of Verona (Thurio), Forever Plaid (Sparky), Fiddler on the Roof (Twice!), Cinderella and Chess just to name a few.


Kara McLeod Costume Design
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Kara McLeod has worked in theater for a million years, or about 30, depending on how you count. Some of the companies she has worked for are South Coast Repertory, Center Theater Group, UCLA, Cal Arts and Disney Imagineering. Currently she teaches at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She's excited to join the creative team on The Musical of Musicals, the Musical! and hopes you enjoy the show!


Lauren Wemischner Lighting Design
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Lauren is a lighting designer based in Los Angeles with a BFA from California Institute of the Arts. Some of her recent design credits include Oy!, Stop Requested, Heart of Darkness, 1984, Fabulation, Waiting for Lefty, and Godislav. In addition to lighting design Lauren also works as a technical consultant and teacher at The Actors' Gang in Culver City. She is thrilled to be working on The Musical of Musicals, The Musical!


Lauren J. Peters Stage Manager
The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!

Lauren J. Peters, is very honored to be working on her first production with Chromolume Theatre. A Los Angeles native, Lauren grew up as a performer in El Segundo, observing the technical team and always offering a helping hand, she switched teams and started working "tech", in all sorts of ways. When Lauren was in High School she started assistant stage managing and worked her way up to becoming a Stage Manger. She has worked on such shows as Parade at El Segundo High School Drama, as an alumni Stage Manager, where she started helping teach the students how to work behind the scenes. Lauren has worked on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at The Relevant Stage, where she met her amazing Director, Kristin Towers-Rowles, this is now their third show working together. Lauren was excited to Stage Manage for Sustaining Sound's production of Little Women, earlier this year at Stage 52. She has hopes of one day getting to continue to teach high school aged teenagers to work in theater production. As a musical theater "kid" Lauren is so excited to be working on such a fun show, and to be apart of being able to help pay homage to the musical theater greats in a comical way. Lauren would like to thank her mom Nance, for always being so supportive and never giving up on her, and her friends and family for helping shape her into who she is today.


Kelsea Maynard Asst. Stage Manager

Kelsea has spent most of her life on the stage and is excited to be learning a new facet of theatre behind the scenes. Most recently Kelsea toured Japan and much of Europe with The Young Americans, singing and dancing their way into children's hearts around the world by performing for them and teaching self confidence through singing, acting, dancing, poetry, and visual arts. Kelsea has a passion for theatre and is so happy to be a part of this wonderful show! A special thanks to her partner in crime- Lauren, and to the entire Cast and Crew for this opportunity. All of the lampoonery scores a big bull’s-eye when it comes to garnering big laughs; each member of the cast is a vocal powerhouse and each has their individual moments to shine.

Director Kristin Towers-Rowles has crafted one large fast-paced, nutty rollercoaster ride wherein the laughs are deep and genuine. Choreography is by Samantha Whitby who does a great job filling the stage with only a quartet of performers.

 

Musical Director and Accompanist Richard Berent's inspired scene change music make even the scene-change blackouts highly enjoyable.

There is a little theatre company in the Mid-City of Los Angeles called Chromolume Theatre...that has one of the most hysterically funny musical treats you'll ever see.

My first nod has to go the enormously expressive, humorous and vocally amazing talents of Eduardo Enrikez...Eduardo does an amazing job with his dance, moves and expressions and is pure fire on stage. His voice is so amazing it would rival those on Broadway right now...Eduardo is simply a delight to watch, amazing in his characters and he really will keep you laughing all night long.

 

My second and triumphant 'hat's off' must go to Kelly Meyersfield playing the one who is the wiser and acts as the advisor to our young heroine throughout. Kelly just lights up the stage with her amazing comic timing and expressions.

 

Jason [Peter Kennedy] has an incredible voice and resonance that, in its various forms and his various characters, will just capture you eyes and ears and keep you smiling broadly throughout.

 

Kimberly Hessler is a sweet, charming and immensely funny performer...Her beautiful voice and syncopation with some of the songs will truly amaze you with her vocal range.

 

With some of the most funniest and perfect parodying choreography by Samantha Whidby, the “The Musical of Musicals: The Musical” is artistically directed to where the action, attitude and humor is sharply played by the enormously talented cast, that you can tell Director Kristin knows musical theatre to make this entire production such a pure joy to watch. I haven’t had so much fun watching a show in a long time and whether you love musicals or you love to make fun of musicals, either way, you just going to eat this show up!

Christina Morrell's singing is especially impressive as she moves through the show's five very different musical styles as Abby.

 

Jason Chacon as Jitter and Jason Peter Kennedy as Billy steal the scene again and again with their hilarious twisted facial expressions.

 

All in all, "The Musical of Musicals, the Musical!" is an amusing show with a funny and talented cast. It's definitely worth a weekend trip to the cozy Chromolume Theatre.
